Today is an especially hard day for the community of Uvalde, Texas. Just two days before the start of summer, the unthinkable has happened.
Multiple news agencies have reported that an 18-year-old shooter opened fire inside of Robb Elementary School, killing at least 14 children and one teacher. Many others were wounded and are being cared for by emergency personnel at local and area hospitals, including those here in San Antonio.
I ask that you join me in prayer for the victims’ families, students, teachers, staff members, law enforcement, and emergency response personnel as they deal with this tragedy.
The South Texas Blood and Tissue Center is in critical need of blood donations, according to the KSAT website. An emergency blood drive is set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Herby Ham Activity Center in Uvalde.
Uvalde is about 80 miles west of San Antonio.
