Pamela’s Prompts: What Candle Scent Would Your Character Be?

For today’s writing prompt, think about the main character in your work-in-progress novel or a character from a book you’ve recently read. Ask yourself: If my main character were a candle, what scent would he or she be?

Is your main character a feisty redhead who is a lawyer? You might choose cinnamon, pepper, chai, or ginger.

Is your main character the owner of a boat dock on the coast? You might opt for coconut, sandalwood, tropical flowers, or salty, ocean air.

You get the idea.

Recently, I read a great western romance and the main character was a rough-around-the-edges, yet tender cowboy. If this character were a candle scent, he would be leather, saddle soap, musk, cedar, gunpowder, and campfire smoke.

Now it’s your turn. Set a timer for 10-15 minutes and write.
