Monday Musings: More Inexpensive Homemade Christmas Gifts

Last week, we looked at inexpensive homemade gifts for children, teens and college students. Today, let’s discover some wonderful ideas for adults. Need a gift for a neighbor? How about a teacher or a co-worker? These ideas are sure to fit the bill!

Homemade Soup Mixes in a Jar by Wholefully®

When it’s chilly outside, who doesn’t love some homemade soup? Making anything homemade during the busy holiday season takes time, though, so a thoughtful gift for anyone might be one of these yummy-sounding homemade soup mixes in a jar from www.wholefully.com

These mixes are relatively inexpensive (a few dollars each) and are so pretty in a canning jar. Tie on a pretty ribbon or pop on a bow, add a name tag and voila! It’s a homemade gift that doesn’t take a lot of time and doesn’t put a dent in your holiday budget.

In her online article, author Cassie Johnston provides recipes for six, different kinds of dry soup mixes: Italian barley, split pea, coconut curry, five bean, chicken noodle and spicy black bean. Yum! I may have to try one of each!

Tea Wreaths by Kojodesigns

I let out a squeal when I saw this one because I love tea! Cold or hot, tea just seems to hit the spot for me, no matter the season.

There’s no way to describe these cute, ingenious tea wreaths well, so you’ll have to log on to www.kojo-designs.com to see them for yourself. To make one tea wreath, you’ll need two, round pieces of 12 x 12-ish cardboard, patterned papers, clothes pins, hot glue, ribbon, craft paint and individual packages of tea bags.

The tea wreath can be displayed as a decoration in the giftee’s home and then they can use the packages of tea bags, as needed. A themed wreath, say, with peppermint tea and red and white patterned paper would be adorable. For an extra sparkle, paint the clothes pins gold.

Cinnamon Sugar Hand Scrub by DIY Candy

The smell of cinnamon during the holidays is one of my favorite scents. How about you?

Here’s a great way to incorporate cinnamon (and the smell of baking Christmas cookies) into the lives of your giftees, even if this is your first time to make something homemade. Super easy, the recipe, on www.diycandy.com calls for only four ingredients: Light brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract and coconut oil plus whatever small jar you want to put the scrub in.

What are some of your favorite inexpensive homemade gifts to make? Happy holidays!
